Board of Directors

How is the CTAM Board of Directors determined?
(from the CTAM Bylaws, Articles 6 & 7)

The Board of Directors are the members elected each year to manage and guide the affairs of the Community Theatre Association of Michigan. As per the Bylaw articles mentioned above:

The Board shall consist of not less than five (5) nor more than thirteen (13) Directors, the specific number set by resolution of the Board. Changes to the number of Directors may not impact current Director’s terms.

The duties of the Board of directors consist of the following:

Directors oversee the financial operation of the Association and execute all actions directed and decisions made by the Board.

Directors shall make reasonable effort to attend all meetings of the Board of Directors.

Director participation in Board activities is at the expense of the individual.

Directors shall make reasonable effort to attend all Association sponsored functions.

Directors shall serve on committees as appointed by the President. All Board members must serve on at least one committee.

Directors shall support CTAM’s mission by being knowledgeable and supportive of CTAM programs, encouraging involvement in CTAM programs by member groups, and support and/or attend member group sponsored events within your geographical location to aid CTAM visibility.

What does this mean?

Each year we elect three to five members to board positions for three-year terms (not to exceed 13 officers total). At the start of each fiscal year this new composition of the board then appoints four officer positions among the Directors: President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. These officers may change from year to year but the members are still tied to a 3-year term on the board unless they are an appointment to fill a vacated position.
